The KIN Fund
A Solidarity Fund for Locally Led Change
Our Philosophy: Trust-Based Stewardship
At the heart of the KIN Fund is a philosophy we call Trust-Based Stewardship.
We believe that trust and accountability are not competing ideas—they are mutually reinforcing. When organisations are trusted, accompanied, and equipped to lead, they are better able to steward resources responsibly, strengthen their institutions, and create meaningful, lasting impact for the communities they serve.
Trust-Based Stewardship combines flexible, trust-based financing with collaborative learning, technical accompaniment, shared accountability, and locally defined outcomes.
The KIN Fund is therefore part of an integrated journey. Through Collaborative Unlearning, practitioners examine the inherited assumptions, extractive practices, and partnership habits that can unintentionally limit locally led leadership. Through the Solidarity Accompaniment Network, organisations receive voluntary technical support to strengthen their strategy, governance, resource mobilisation, communications, and organisational systems.
Together, Collaborative Unlearning, Solidarity Accompaniment, and the KIN Fund create an integrated approach to resourcing locally led change—investing in the people, relationships, and leadership needed to build more equitable and resilient humanitarian and development partnerships.
The Approach
Unlearn
examine inherited assumptions, challenge extractive and paternalistic ways of working, and cultivate more equitable approaches to leadership and partnership.
Accompany
Our Solidarity Accompaniment Network connects leaders with experienced practitioners who provide voluntary technical support tailored to each organization's goals.
Resource
flexible, trust-based financing that enables organisations to invest in their priorities, respond to emerging opportunities, strengthen their institutions, and lead sustainable change.
Steward
shared accountability through reflection, evidence, and continuous learning. Together with our partners, we define meaningful outcomes, learn from experience, and ensure that resources contribute to stronger organisations and lasting community impact.

Who we support
Community-led and locally rooted organisations committed to local leadership, community accountability, equitable partnerships, and reflective practice.
What We Support
Flexible seed funding for organisational strengthening, community action, innovation, leadership development, systems strengthening, and locally defined priorities.
How We Support
KIN Fund support is linked to PRA’s unlearning process and solidarity accompaniment, helping organisations strengthen readiness, accountability, and confidence to receive and use funding well.
Because funding alone does not shift systems, PRA pairs support with unlearning and accompaniment so organisations can strengthen the mindsets, practices, relationships, and accountability needed to use resources well and lead change sustainably.
